Pycnanthemum virginianum / American mountain mint

All parts of the plant have a strong mint aroma when crushed, making it unpalatable to deer. Outstanding for the volume and diversity of pollinators it attracts.

Note: these will spread but not aggressively; easily pull unwanted runners or slice a circle around the plant with a sharp shovel in the spring to cut off spreading roots, as desired.
